Evolution is the perfect and appropriate theme for our camp, for it has truly evolved since 2005. Our camp has grown, morphed, changed both in size, geographic origin with emphasis on community and interactive offerings. Beginning in Santa Barbara, California, with the camp reaching 19 in 2007, it has now grown to 7 small camps totaling 85 people with participants hailing from all points of the globe. Oasis 47 is now a neighborhood of highly interactive camps, each offering workshops to the Burning Man Community. What created this demand for growth and interactivity? A simple email to the Boston Burners list, with a request for community oriented people to join others in their desire to serve and have fun. The response was overwhelming and we selected the very best who offered service and fun. Several planning meetings have taken place as we, as a community, have designed our activities. From our first get together meeting, which lasted 5 hours over a shared meal, we knew that something magical was evolving. Oasis 47 is akin to a suburb from the default world with a community garden. Our friendship and contributions extend from the community of Black Rock to spreading seeds of energy in the default world.
