Oasis 47 Pendant Project - Wednesday 11:00 - 14:00 at Oasis 47

Since 2006, The Playa Pendant Project has been an interactive workshop for all ages to participate in making a bronze cast pendant filled with color. Using two-part resin and all kinds of kitchen spices like oregano, turmeric, curry powder, tea, dry mustard, dry paint pigments, and even the playa itself, the resin combined with the dry mixture is loaded into the small "cells", much like the enameled version of cloisonné. Our version is sturdy for the playa and makes great gifts. Come join us for workshops and make your own!

A practical introduction to an Evolutionary Buddhism - On-playa workshop with Carlos Kampff, Camp Catnips

This workshop is mostly about an experimental system called "Five Gateways to Bliss". This system presupposes that at each step of the way the art of enlightenment was developed by individuals like you and I that saw a point to revolutionize and expand the way people saw and interacted with the world. In this way we will experiment with information that the ancient masters didn't have access to like the discoveries of evolution, neuroscience, computer science/programming and the knowledge of diverse cultures and religions. The key words here are integration, being real and striving for the ultimate Buyakashah.

Karen Burmese Massage Basics - Tuesday 15:30-17:00 at Oasis 47 with Ron Hod, Ninja Kneads

The Karen are a diverse people in the nation of Burma, now Myanmar. The Karen were originally animists, and today most are Buddhists or Christians. Some of their 1,700 year old tradition remains to this date, although often cloaked in Buddhism or Christianity. The Karen healers once traveled village to village, dispensing free health care, psychiatric care, marriage counseling, communications with those who passed, and so on. Their services were free, and they were held in high esteem.

Some of their knowledge survived to this day. A practitioner of this modicum isn't allowed to charge for healing, so naturally there is very little knowledge or interest in this ancient tradition. We'll be concentrating on the massage side of the modicum, which in addition to bringing relief was also believed to promote good health and longevity. We'll be reviewing some very basic massage and energy work techniques, the Burmese ideas of body/energy connections, and the art of Regarding.
